The tab Policy is the same for the stations and groups and includes policy ie. configurations of the managed software of the selected group or station. The tab is divided into two windows marked as Used policy items and Available policy items. In both windows a tree configuration is divided in such a way that is similar to the control of the product and that is easily readable. In simpler types of items (such as numbers, strings, etc.), next to the item its current value is displayed, for more advanced types (such as tables) next to the item is a value <...>. Double clicking on the folder will expand the items stored in the folder, double clicking on the item will bring up a window with value settings and a help text for what the settings will be used.
The window Available policy items contains available TrustPort Management policy elements, except for those items that are set in the window Used policy items. The entries in this window cannot be modified, for this the item must firstly be moved to the window Used policy items.
The window Used policy items contains items inherited from a superior group, and then items defined specially for this group or station. The items are differentiated by normal writing (for items inherited from a superior group), and for others (defined for the selected group or station) in bold writing. Default contents of the window are set to URL addresses to update servers for virus definitions updates. Warning! These items should never be removed from the policy. In case that these default records were removed, then the mirror of virus definitions on TrustPort Management server will stop working. All items that are defined in this window are set on the station / group of stations. The remaining items are left as they are set on the station, and are not influenced by TrustPort Management in any way.
If some group or individual item is marked in one of the windows, then a button appears to move the item to another window. The button changes direction in relation to which window has a marked item and always aims to the second window.
If the items are moved between windows, then these changes are automatically saved. However if one of the values in the window Used policy items is changed, this value in the tree is then displayed red, and this value needs to be confirmed by clicking Save button. If the tab is left without saving, all changes will be ignored. In the case that you want to change the value to default, double click on the value and in the window that appears use the Inherit button.
Clicking Inherit All button the content of policy is inherited from the superior group.
The Export button is used to export policy in the window Used policy items to the XML file. Warning! This function exports policy stored on the TrustPort Management server, ie. if you want to export the current contents of the window Used policy items, the Save button must not be active. If this button is selected, it is necessary before exporting to save such a policy (otherwise a different policy will be exported than the one that is currently displayed in the window)!
The Import button is used for importing policy stored in the XML file. Imported policy will automatically be complemented by items inherited from superior groups if they are not included in the imported policy.
