The Tasks tab window applies to both individual stations and groups and contains a pull-down menu of tasks that can be carried out on a given station. If applied to a group, then each station in that group will receive that task. Task can be executed immediately or scheduled. Immediately executed tasks will be sent to the station after entering and will be carried out immediately. Scheduled tasks are added to the task to-do list. After synchronization between the station and server, the list is transferred to the station and when the time comes to start the task, it is then executed. If the computer is turned off in the scheduled time then the task is automatically executed after the computer startup. The list of scheduled tasks is inherited from the superior group. In other words, if a scheduled task is created in the group then this task will be executed on all stations in this group and all groups where this group is a superior group to them e.g. if a task is created in the Root group then it will be executed on all stations in the TrustPort Management. Inheritance of tasks works the same way as inheritance of policy.
The tab is divided into two parts. In the upper one is placed the list of tasks that were created for selected group or station and tasks inherited from the superior group. The tasks are differentiated by normal writing (for tasks inherited from a superior group), and for others (defined for the selected group or station) in bold writing. Inherited tasks can't be deleted. Clicking on the tasks entry displays detailed information about selected tasks. Immediately executed tasks aren't added into this list. Under the list of tasks there is a pull-down list that contains templates of new tasks. If you select a template from the list then corresponding tasks edit fiels are appeared under this pull-down list. For each template a corresponding help is available.
The following are types of tasks that can be assigned to a station, with examples of use.
