How to Install TrustPort PC Security version 1.5.4 in TrustPort Management version 3.0
Objective:
The objective is to install TrustPort PC Security version 1.5.4 or any of its components on stations administered by TrustPort Management in medium sized networks. After the installation, the administrator will be able to manage TrustPort PC Security through the TrustPort Management console. The same procedure can be used to upgrade TrustPort PC Security version 1.5.4 to newer version of the product.
Requirements:
- The TrustPort PC Security installation package.
- A full valid license key for TrustPort PC Security.
-
TrustPort Management version 3.0 installed on all stations on which you wish to install TrustPort PC Security and that these stations can be administered by TrustPort Management.
-
If a firewall is running on the computers, the following ports must be opened to allow communication between the server and stations. The specific ports are the following:
- allow UDP connections in both directions on port 9090,
- allow TCP connections in both directions on port 9675,
-
for the management console on the server allow internal TCP connections on port 20394 (can be set to another port while installing the server), on the TrustPort Management server it is necessary to allow even outgoing connections
- allow incoming TCP connections on port 135 for RPC,
- allow outgoing TCP connections on port 139 for RPC,
-
allow incoming TCP connections on port 445 for resource sharing on Windows,
-
allow incoming TCP connections on port 1042 for resource sharing on Windows.
-
If an older version of TrustPort PC Security is installed, it must be uninstalled before performing installation of the newer version.
Procedure:
- Log in to the TrustPort Management console.
-
Installation can be scheduled as a task ie. it will be planned to start at certain time for each group of stations. In the Management Pane choose the group where TrustPort PC Security or its components should be installed on all the stations.
Under the Tasks tab, select the Install TrustPort PC Security task. If you only want to install certain components of the TrustPort PC Security suite, then select the Install TrustPort PC Security components task and check the specific products you want to install. Then fill in the optional task description (useful for easily identifying the task at a later date).
On the server it is necessary to create a shared folder containing the TrustPort PC Security installer package. In order to access this it is necessary to have the Program Execution Rights account configured in the console Settings menu. Fill this folder in the task as the Source of the installation. If the Program Execution Rights account needed to run the application is different for any particular station, change it under the Accounts tab. If you have not filled this account neither in the global Settings nor in the individual stations settings, you must check that Network Access account has access into this shared folder.
Next it is necessary to set the time and date in the Start time field. For most stations it is necessary to set a starting time interval of at least 30-45 minutes between each group performing installations, otherwise it may cause too many stations to download the installation file from the server at once, causing overload on the server!
After defining the task it is necessary to distribute it to the individual stations in the selected group. This is done by selecting Synchronize group item in the Actions tab of the group in question, or by selecting the Tasks tab of this group and selecting the Update stations task. If you'll decide to choose the synchronization by the Update stations task then it's recommended to use the implicit value Initial settings as The maximum delay between updates item.
-
The installation itself takes some time, so after some time from initiating the installation check the results by looking at the list of installed applications on each station (where the TrustPort PC Security has been installed), which can be found under the General tab of the Manage pane. To ensure that the information being viewed is up to date, it is recommended to select the Synchronize item in the Actions tab of the particular station. If the installation was successful, TrustPort PC Security and its installed components will be displayed in this pane.
Another way to check that installation was successful is by checking the product version in the Statistics pane. Statistics on this pane needn't be up-to-date so you may wait to the next statistics assembling time (at most 15 minutes by default) or use the Update statistics button to update them immediately.

The settings of a station administered by TrustPort Management can be controlled under the Policy tab. Specific details about controlling the settings of a group or station is explained directly in the Policy tab.
After installing TrustPort PC Security the station may need to be restarted. In this case, the station user is informed, allowing him time to save his work. Restarting is requested only if the operating system class is 'Workstation' and no TrustPort Management server is installed on the station. This precaution avoids the need to restart the server.
If any errors occurred while installing or the installation failed completely, an alert is created including the error message and added to the alert message list on the given station. The following are the most common problems:
-
During installation the SYSTEM account is automatically used. If you set a different Program Execution Rights account in advanced settings
then this account does not exist on the station, does not have administrator rights or has the wrong password information.
-
Path to the installation file is invalid, or is placed on the network and it isn't accessible by Network Access account from the station.
-
Previous installation or uninstallation of product hasn't been completed successfully yet. A restart of station was probably required, that was shown to the user, but it hasn't been accomplished till now. That's reason why it hasn't been possible to install a new version of the TrustPort PC Security.
