How to Register a Station Manually

Objective:

Install a station into the TrustPort Management, if it is set to perform registrations manually.

Requirements:

Procedure:

  1. As manual registration is by default inactive, it is necessary to activate this.

    • In the Manage pane, select the station that is the TrustPort Management server installed.
    • Click the Policy tab and in the Available policy items window select the item TrustPort Management->Server->Settings->Registrations->Automatic client registration and use the << button to the move it to the Used policy items window.
    • Double click on the item and in the new window change the value to No and close the window.
    • Save the changes by clicking the Save button.
    • On the server use the Update stations item in the Tasks pane and enforce immediately sychronization between station and server.
    • Log out by clicking log out.
    • After logging in again, the Register menu item will be visible.

  2. Now install stations in the same way as you normally do. Detailed information about installation methods can be found in How to Install TrustPort Management Version 3.0 or in How to Remotely Install the Client on a Specific Station. The procedure described in this page differs from this in that stations are not automatically registered to the Unclassified group group of stations, but are added to the Registration requests list displayed in the Register menu pane.

Use the check box to select which stations to register and perform registration by clicking the Register selected stations button. Denying the registration of stations is possible by selecting individual stations and then clicking the Deny selected stations button. All stations can be either selected or unselected at once by using the small buttons in the Select table header above the individual station check boxes.

Up to the time a station is either registered or denied, it will periodically (the standard being 5 minutes) attempt to verify its registration status. If the registration was allowed, then the station will be assigned to the Unclassified group of stations and will automatically inherit the group's policies. On the following verification of registration status a profile of the station is created on the server and its name is removed from the list of registration requests. The station logs in to the server and after another predetermined time interval performs its first synchronization with the server. If the registration request was denied, then the request details are transferred to the list under the Denied registration requests tab and from then on it won't be possible to view its status and will appear as inactive.
